A Drug That Will Change The World

The Good News:

“Drugs like Ozempic will change the world.” This headline in The Economist today echoes what we’ve seen in our practice over the past year.  First, GLP-1 drugs (Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy et al.) focused on diabetes.  Then, they successfully tackled obesity.  And now, we see them as important treatments for addictions of all kinds.  Their impact on Alzheimer’s and cardiovascular disease is also being studied. GLP-1 Drugs

The Bad News:

Many people are reluctant to try these drugs because of the cost ($500-$1300 monthly), fear of needles, and potential side effects.

The Solution:

Our own Dr. Kimberlee Erison is an exceptional Nurse Practitioner who has worked with hundreds of patients in our practice to safely and effectively use GLP-1s for their best health, primarily with weight loss and health optimization.  She works one-on-one with each patient to devise and manage their optimum program, really spending time with you to understand your goals and challenges.

Working with trusted local compounding pharmacies, our patients’ cost is usually under $225 monthly.  Plus, Dr. Erison accepts Blue Cross insurance plans to further lower the cost of care.

My Experience:

The Miletic Center has incorporated GLP-1 medications into our treatment approach, witnessing not only the anticipated benefits in weight management and metabolic function but also a surprising discovery – a reduction in cravings for alcohol and other substances, particularly THC.

I am personally excited by the results I’m seeing in my practice.  Addictions to substances (alcohol, food, drugs like THC) are impacted by this drug.  Addictions to behaviors (gambling, scrolling, video games, etc) are being lessened by this drug.  Brain fog and mental clarity are enhanced.

Like all medications, it is not a magic bullet.  It requires a commitment to the goal, and regular work with myself and/or Dr. Erison.
